Ryan Anthony


Ryan Anthony was added as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Southern Methodist University in 2016. Previous teaching experience include full-time positions at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and North Carolina School of the Arts.

Mr. Anthony first joined the trumpet section of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 2004 and began his tenure as Principal in 2006. Other orchestras where he has filled in as principal include Los Angeles Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony and the sections of the Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and Israel Philharmonic.

Prior to moving to Dallas, Ryan Anthony traveled as a member of the renowned brass quintet Canadian Brass. He was also a member of the Center City Brass Quintet and charter member of Burning River Brass.

Mr. Anthony is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music holding both his B.M. and M.M. studying with Bernard Adelstein, Michael Sachs and weekly studies with David Zauder.

Outside of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Ryan continues an active schedule as soloist, Yamaha clinician and founder of CancerBlows, a non-profit foundation raising awareness and funds for cancer research through music.
